Summer where are you?

Well the weather was lovely on Thursday- I think that was summer! New Years Eve and New Years day were really cold, there was even snow on the hills in some areas of New Zealand. It was that cold that Tim lit the fire on New Years Eve. Remember this is the middle of summer here! The month of December in Wellington, our closest city, was the coldest in more than 70 years. What global warming???

Sarah and I shared looking after Anahera and Kaya for 2 nights over the New Years weekend. We took the girls to the indoor pools not far from Sarah and Tim's house and they had a great time. Even little Yana went in the toddlers pool. It was too cold to do anything outdoors.

I finished at ChemDry yesterday, it was quite sad to leave, I've been working there 4 1/2 years. I start my new job on Monday. Then we move on Saturday. And my mum is not doing well. Although she's 94 it was still a bit of a surprise to be rung on Thursday evening to say she wasn't doing so well. At least now she's drinking although still not eating. If she hadn't started to drink she may only have lasted a week as she's very frail anyway. She's doing a bit better now but it's still not certain if she will continue to slowly fade away or recover. I spent most of today down at her room in the rest home (she's more comfortable there) and my niece is staying overnight with her. Ah, she's got a strong spirit my mum, who knows, she may get to 100 yet and get her telegram from the Queen!

  • We are having unusually warm weather here. Maybe we have switched? I went out with the dog yeasterday in my t-shirt, no jacket...it is so weird that we don't have any snow!!

I hope the job change and the move go well for you. I am still praying for your health concerns.

    Happy New Year!!
