I'm still around

Well the four days I had off weren't long enough, isn't that always the way? The weather wasn't very nice for walking or getting outside, it was cold and showery almost the whole time. And Andrew and I were still adjusting to his night shift hours so I was tired.

I did decide on the Saturday to take advantage of a cheap travel deal on a combined bus and train ticket, and bought it on the bus that stops outside my house that goes to the train station. It was issued by the bus driver from his ticket machine. It wasn't until the guard on the train wanted to check my ticket that we both discovered the date was wrong, it was showing the day before. Do you think that guard believed I had just bought it? No way! He was about to throw me off the train, as I certainly had no cash on me to buy another ticket. He kept coming back to me, it was sooo embarrassing in front of a carriage full of people being treated like a fraudster. In the end he very reluctantly allowed me to stay on the train until I got to the main station in Wellington. There I went to see the platform attendants who thankfully did believe me, and although they couldn't refund my money they gave me a ticket so at least I could get back home. As soon as the bus company's offices opened on Monday I went to see them and they did give me a refund. What also annoyed me was the bus company KNEW the clocks on the ticket machines were wrong but they hadn't done anything about it. So a lot of embarrassment, and a wasted day out. I will be buying the day rover ticket on the train from now on and won't be trusting the bus company.

Ah well, things happen like that sometimes don't they lol!

  • How absolutely embarrassing - poor Ruth! At least the people at the tranportation office were nice to you.
