Middle of the weekday

Here's a picture taken at a local small animal park. Anahera and Kaya are looking at the peacock displaying his feathers. They loved the peacock but weren't so keen on the geese that followed them around wanting to be fed! Favourite was a hen with her baby chicks, as well as the sulphur crested cockatoo that said Hello.

Tim and Sarah only have 3 weeks until baby is due, the last scan taken last week definitely confirms it's gonna be a girl! They are sticking with calling her Yana, middle name either Asher or Ashleigh. Sarah's had problems with blood pressure and is on blood pressure medication which seems to be working OK.

I'm on call tonight, have had 1 call so far from someone wanting to have a stain removal job done next week. I hope it'll be a quiet evening phonewise! School holidays this week and wouldn't you know it, it's been wet almost every day so far! I did manage to get out for a couple of 3 kms walks with out getting wet but I know Anahera and Kaya are getting a bit bored!

Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!

Weekend!

Hmmm I've been trying to upload a photo but it's not working this time...
I'm thinking of all the people affected by Hurricane Rita and hoping that all in the path of the hurricane will be kept safe. I've been watching coverage on TV and the power of this one is amazing- Hurricane Katrina was even stronger so it's unbelievable to think of the destruction.

I may not post to this blog so often, I don't get comments so I don't think this is interesting enough. We'll see! I don't really know anyone in the blogworld so I don't have anyone who reads my blog anyway.

May be back at some stage- keep safe!

Thursday

Thursday and an earlier start for me. I was on call for work last night which just means answering the after hours phone, making bookings, dispatching technicians if we have emergencies etc. I only had 2 calls which was good. It's certainly much easier than my 2nd job! I'm so glad I gave that up. It took me 2 weeks to get better from that cold or flu I had and I'm sure that was due to the long hours I was putting in there- I'd got too tired! Gotta dash and get ready for work !

2 Days to elections

Thought I'd post a picture of my mum. This was taken when Andrew and I bought fishn chips and took it to her at the Rest Home. She's not able to go out anymore, so we knew she'd appreciate it. The Rest Home provided the table in the small lounge with a view over the sea, all the cutlery etc, tomato sauce and lemonade. It was really lovely. We ate our fishnchips and watched the sun set. Mum's doing pretty well fro 93 aye! Her short term memory is pretty shocking, but there's nothing wrong with her sense of humour and she knows who we are.

Just 2 days to the elections and it's still too close to call. I think I've decided who to vote for, and who to give my party vote to. Tim phoned this evening with instructions on how we're to vote (thanks Tim, we'll make up our own minds lol). We're going to watch the TV coverage on Saturday night, it will be interesting to see who the new government will be.

I have tomorrow off. I'm still trying to shake off my cold, it's sapped all my energy. I'd organised the day as a day's leave about a month ago, it's come at an opportune time so I can try and recover.

Saturday as well as election day is Sarah's baby shower. It's being held at her church over in the Hutt about an hour's drive away. Then I'll go back to their house for a bit. I haven't seen Tim and Sarah since the beginning of June.

Fuel costs

Well I was hoping to pay most of the cost of a flight for Tahi my son in law and Kaya my littlest granddaughter, possibly this Friday (weather dependent) but I found out last night that the cost of hire for the plane Simon would be taking us up in has gone up by $15. Hmmm - not too sure now. And if I don't hurry up now and book my ferry and bus tickets, I'll missout on good fares to Christchurch. I'm just a bit unmotivated to do it yet, maybe because Phil (middle son) and Magenta didn't seem so pleased that I'd like to come and see them... the other times in January and March they were lovely and welcoming - not so much this time and I don't know why.

Well, I'm trying uploading photos! Here are the items that I've managed to knit-the complete beginners lot, lol! The pink jersey (crew neck), hooded jersey, 2 beanies, mittens, sitting on a small blanket. Made with Pipkin, a very thick wool that knits up real fast, a bonus for beginners. I'm struggling with the work in progress, a baby cardigan as it's thinner wool(lol) and I've been so busy with work, and I'm still not feeling 100%. Hope to get back to it soon. Sorry about the small photo, I don't have a digital camera so photo is taken with my cell phone and I forgot to change the size.

Where's the time gone?

Where has the last week gone? It was so busy, the weekend and then work. Onw ednesday I started at my full time job at 8am, then after a half hour tea break I went on to my second job. Guess what, I didn't finish there until 1am!!!! By the time I got home after posting the business mail it was 1.15 am!! No wonder I then got sick and had to have yesterday off work. I spent the entire day in bed which isn't the norm for me if I'm sick. Today I feel a bit better, I had to get up and do dishes and washing etc because no one else was going to do them! I got Andrew to drive me to do the shopping and push the trolley for me as we had NOTHING in the either. It's the worst cold I've had for ages and also the first sick day I've taken in a year. I was meant to be on call last night, tonight and tomorrow and be working today but thankfully DSteph from work offered to cover for me - I couldn't have handled it. I'm short of breath today and coughing, but hopefully I'll be ready for work again on Monday.

I've been too busy to do much knitting this week too. Tim phoned today, Sarah and the baby are doing well, just 6 weeks to go till their due date.

Weather has been just beautiful today, wish I had felt well enough to appreciate it, it would have been great to go walking. Lots of little planes flying about.

One week to go till the elections, I'm still not sure who I'll vote for - National? United? NZ First? Labour? No idea at this moment as none of them are giving me as a single person with 1 child at Polytech (who is classed as a non dependent) any breaks.
